Practice assessments and where to find them
In my previous post, I mentioned about the practice assessment for the PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst exams so thought I would expand on the topic a bit!
What are the practice assessments?
Available via MS Learn, they are a fab way to try an exam to get a feel for the type of questions that you might be ask as well as a way to guage your knowledge levels in the topic at hand. The questions aren’t a direct copy of ones in the actual exam but they are a good replica of them. Once you have completed a practice exam, you get a score and also the opportunity to create a learning plan for the areas that you maybe didn’t do as well in - this plan is then available within MS Learn for you to review.
The other bit of good news is that they are free and can be sat as many times as is needed.
Why are they useful?
- They help you get used to the exam format and question types.
- They help you measure how ready and confident you are for the exam.
- They help you find out your strengths and weaknesses and plan your study time accordingly.
- They help you lower your exam stress and improve your test-taking skills.
Top Tips for using them effectively
- Take them after you have finished your study plan and looked over the exam objectives.
- Take them under realistic exam conditions, such as time limit, quiet place, and no outside help - apart from leveraging MS Learn content.
- Review your results and feedback carefully and see how you did.
- Use the learning plan to find out the areas where you need more practice or review.
- Use the feedback to learn from your mistakes and get a better grasp of the concepts.
- Repeat the process until you get the score and confidence level you want.
Where are they?
Links can be found on the exam page for each certification but there is also a handy page on MS Learn which lists them out :)
